This poster, like many others, dipicts the flags of all the countries that are brought together by the United Nations. This poster was displayed all over the United States during the war near government buildings and Army recruiting centers. There are many factors going into this poster to get the message of the U.N across to the audience. The first thing one will notice is all the flags, but there is much more to it than just a bunch of allied flags. At the bottom, all branches of military (Army, Navy, Air Force) are depicted advancing towards an undepicted foe. A key thing to note in this poster is how the groups of flags are breaking through this ominous dark cloud, showing they are not afraid of the unseen evil. The dark smoke was used often in these types of posters to portray the Axis powers.
The various countries listed showed the large amount of support the U.N had, and how many countries wanted to stop the Axis.
Many war posters in the U.S, including the one above, where done by an artist by the name of Leslie Ragan. Ragan was a well known artist during this time and had made posters for both art and advertising purposes.
